Early this Thursday morning, an incident on Indianapolis' near south side has resulted in the death of one individual, marking yet another episode in the city's confrontation with gun violence. Officials from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a call at about 7:06 a.m. in the 2200 block of S. Meridian St, as reported by FOX59.

Upon arrival, IMPD officers discovered a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound within a residence however, despite their rapid response, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, there has not been an immediate release of his identity pending family notification. An IMPD spokesperson described the event as "an isolated incident," assuring that "there is no threat to the public," this information was confirmed in a conversation with 13News.
