A man was shot inside his car and died after crashing while trying to flee gunfire on Indianapolis' near south side, police say.

Marion County Sheriff’s Office posted photos marking the anniversary of Deputy John Durm’s 2023 death and recalled the sallyport attack that killed him. The suspect faces murder and escape charges.

IMPD confirmed a fatal crash Friday on the 800 block of S. Tibbs Avenue; investigators remained on scene and details were limited.
