Homrich Wrecking will tear down City Methodist Church and the old St. Mary Mercy Hospital under a $5.3 million contract, ending a decade of ruins-garden dreams.

The $64 million project on a century-old grain site adds a saltwater pool, pet spa and a new trailhead linking downtown to two regional trails.

The $15.1 million project brings 43 family townhomes to Sherman Park, where an RCA plant once employed 8,000 workers before it closed in 1995.
