Late Friday morning, just ahead of his scheduled court hearing, Zimmerman eluded authorities. Sheriff Thomas Tuggle expressed his determination in pursuing the fugitive, stating, "Our Fugitive Apprehension Team is actively searching for Mr. Zimmerman, and I am confident we will apprehend him,” as reported by Local Memphis. Warning the public of the legal repercussions of aiding an escapee, Sheriff Tuggle emphasized that anyone found assisting Zimmerman would be charged with a felony.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Zimmerman's escape now slates him as a fugitive from justice, and he faces further accusations, including taking away a motor vehicle, armed robbery, possession of a weapon by a felon, and disorderly conduct.
