An incident in Mesa has left a local influencer's home severely damaged after an explosive device, possibly a high-powered firework, was hurled at his front door. The explosion, which was captured on a Ring camera late Thursday evening, caused thousands of dollars in damage and has set off an investigation by the Mesa Police Department. According to video footage, a suspect was seen throwing the device before fleeing the scene, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.

Nicholas Scherr, the homeowner, and social media influencer, was at home near Country Club Drive and Guadalupe Road when the attack occurred. "I saw a big white light and a bunch of smoke and I got hit with a bunch of stuff, and you just don’t know what to expect," Scherr recalled in a statement given to FOX 10 Phoenix. The damage included shattered glass, and a damaged roof, prompting Scherr to install additional security cameras around his residence.

The aftermath has left Scherr feeling insecure about his safety, "It’s more of a frustration that you took the safety of my home away from me and that’s not fair," he elaborated in an interview with AZ Family.

Mesa Police encourage anyone with information to contact the non-emergency hotline at 480-644-2211, as per FOX 10 Phoenix.
