A high school student at Seminole High in Florida has been arrested after allegedly bringing a weapon onto the campus during the summer school session. As authorities promptly responded to a tip-off, they discovered the weapon inside the student’s backpack, confirmed a report by Click Orlando. The identity of the student and the specifics of the weapon have not been released to the public.
The student was not reported to have made any threats with the weapon, however, the presence of any such item in a school environment is against the law. According to details shared with FOX 35, the student now faces undisclosed disciplinary measures and law enforcement custody. The criteria under which the student will be charged are yet to be detailed.
In reaction to the incident, the school district has communicated a tightened security plan. Additional law enforcement will be patrolling the area, along with a K-9 unit specialized in detecting weapons—a move described as precautionary. "The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority and we are thankful for the individuals who reported this tip" said Michael Pfeiffer, principal of Seminole High School, as per FOX 35.
Seminole Country Public Schools has assured families that the atmosphere within Seminole High remains conducive to learning and that the recent event has been addressed with the appropriate urgency. Summer classes at the school began on June 3 and are set to conclude the day following the incident, according to the school's official calendar.
