A suspect linked to a homicide investigation following a fatal stabbing incident in Northwest Washington has been captured. The incident took place on the night of April 5. Police were called to the 1300 block of Peabody Street, where they discovered 53-year-old Fasil Teklemariam inside an apartment, unresponsive and with multiple stab wounds. Despite efforts from DC Fire and EMS, Teklemariam was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Following an investigation, 19-year-old Audrey Miller emerged as the suspect in the case. Miller, who reportedly has no fixed address, eluded authorities until being located on June 17, by the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. The task force found Miller in Hagerstown, MD, from which she will be extradited to Washington, D.C. to face charges. Miller is charged with First Degree Murder while Armed-Felony Murder.

Teklemariam's death has added to the District's ongoing struggle with violent crimes, particularly stabbings, which have seen an upward trend in recent years. The arrest of Miller represents a significant development for the MPD's Homicide Branch, bringing a degree of closure to the victim's family and friends. However, the community remains on edge as the city grapples with the broader implications of such violent acts.
