The Austin Police Department has successfully located 40-year-old Daniel Choi, who had gone missing since Saturday afternoon, June 29, near Rainey Street according to an update from KVUE. Choi was found in good condition on Monday, though details regarding his whereabouts during the time he was missing have not been disclosed by authorities.

Before his eventual safe return, Choi had last been seen around 1 p.m. on the 600 block of Davis Street, and later his friends located his phone at about 5:45 p.m. strewn on the ground near Cesar Chavez and South 1st Street, FOX 7 Austin reports, raising concerns among his friends and family as Daniel, who requires medication and at the time was without his wallet or phone, which compounded the urgency of locating him.

Previous reports from APD highlighted the distinctiveness of Choi's appearance when he was last seen, describing his attire as blue swim shorts adorned with a bird print and a blue T-shirt, along with his physical characteristics such as being roughly 5 feet, 8 inches tall with straight, black hair, and having limited use of his right arm.

Though he has been found safe, the circumstances surrounding Choi's disappearance have not been made public the relief permeates among those who know him, marked by the cessation of an alert previously issued for a man who needed his medications and was absent of his usual means of communication and identification; his absence was keenly felt by the community, which is now relieved with his return.
