
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has recently apprehended a dozen individuals listed as wanted criminal illegal immigrants across the state. These arrests are part of ongoing efforts to capture fugitives who have unlawfully entered the United States and committed crimes in Texas. According to a press release from the DPS, the captures include offenders with histories ranging from smuggling to sexual assault.
Among the arrests detailed by the DPS was Samuel Alexander Castro-Canas from El Salvador, who was captured in Huntsville on June 25, having a prior record of person smuggling and alien removal. Another involved was Raysel Carrion-Tamayo of Cuba, who has faced charges related to both sex trafficking and sexual assault and was apprehended in Del Valle at the Travis County Correctional Complex.
The DPS list of "Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants" serves as a selection tool used by the Special Agents to locate individuals of interest. Karla Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety, stated, "DPS Special Agents continue working with local and federal law enforcement agencies to apprehend more criminal illegal immigrant fugitives ." The individuals on this list have been tied to a variety of offenses, notably including human smuggling, sexual offenses, and substance-related crimes.
