The local culinary landscape in Barrio Logan is set to get a little more savory with the addition of Todo Pa’ La Cruda, a Grant Hill-based Mexican eatery known for its Acapulco-inspired dishes. This family-run restaurant is branching out from its original location and planting new roots in the area that once homed Salud Tacos. According to news reported by Eater San Diego, the beloved taco joint on Logan Avenue shuttered last June, making way for owner Elizabeth Ruiz to bring her homemade Mexican flavors to the bustling neighborhood.
Todo Pa’ La Cruda, birthed amidst the throes of the 2020 pandemic, swiftly became a go-to spot for Guerrero natives in search of familiar tastes like the region-specific lemon-lime soda, Yoli. Ruiz, a real estate agent by trade, happened upon the sought-after spot in Barrio Logan on her usual trips to the nearby Restaurant Depot. Amidst stiff competition for the covetable location, Ruiz struck a deal for a five-year lease and told Eater that she's aiming to open the new Todo Pa’ La Cruda in the upcoming weeks.
Ruiz's mother, Doña Antonia, brought her elite cooking skills from Mexico, where she once catered to celebrities and dignitaries, to the restaurant’s kitchen, personally training chefs to master her recipes. It's in this culinary heritage that Todo Pa’ La Cruda roots its motto, “everything but the hangover.” As detailed by Eater San Diego, the restaurant features a restorative all-day menu spotlighting traditional dishes such as Menudo, caldo de mariscos, and pozole verde — all made from scratch — along with modern fare including mole chilaquiles, shrimp aguachile, birria plates, tacos, and burritos.
The restaurant's announcement on its official Instagram page thanks patrons for their overwhelming support that spurred the expansion: "Because of you, we are growing beyond our expectations. Our customers are the reason we work everyday. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you for your preference." This heartfelt message underlines the passion and community-centric spirit driving Todo Pa’ La Cruda's success as it prepares to serve up its savory eats to an even broader audience.
