Peter Piper Pizza is officially back in Mesquite, cutting the ribbon yesterday on a reimagined prototype restaurant at Frontera Plaza that is built for both carb-loading and kid chaos. The 11,000-square-foot spot pairs made-from-scratch pizza with a PlayPark for little ones, more than 40 arcade games, and a 230-inch sports screen. City officials pitched the opening as a timely boost for family entertainment and local jobs heading into the summer rush.
What the new Peter Piper offers
According to a press release via PR Newswire, the Mesquite location is a next-generation concept that blends dine-in service with a full slate of interactive play. The lineup includes a dedicated PlayPark for children under 56 inches tall, more than 40 arcade games, and a 230-inch screen tuned for sports fans. The company said it is rolling out a two-day grand opening with early visitor perks and is promoting a Summer Pass starting at $29.99 that offers two months of unlimited visits and daily free gameplay. The release also notes a weekday unlimited lunch buffet plus expanded carryout and delivery options, all centered on the brand’s stone oven pizzas.
City welcome and ribbon-cutting
The City of Mesquite shared photos of yesterday’s ribbon-cutting and said, “Families have another place in Mesquite to have fun together and make memories.” City officials used the moment to highlight continued private investment, saying they were enthusiastic about new opportunities for residents to gather, celebrate milestones, and generally let the kids run wild in a controlled environment. The Facebook post featured images of local leaders and store staff lining up for the ceremonial ribbon and first walk-through.
How the city helped land Peter Piper
The opening comes after months of planning and incentives. Mesquite leaders approved a Chapter 380 economic development agreement to redevelop an 11,000-square-foot site at 5550 South Buckner Boulevard, according to Mesquite City Council minutes. Those documents show the company agreed to invest at least $2.4 million in capital improvements and to meet a jobs target, while the city signed off on a one-cent state sales and use tax rebate capped at $250,000. A concept plan filed with the city maps out the Frontera Plaza footprint and interior lease for the restaurant, details that residents have been tracking through public filings and council meetings as the project inched forward.
Jobs, hours, and practical details
The company said the Mesquite restaurant will create about 50 new jobs and will open to the general public on Thursday, following Wednesday’s invite-only ribbon-cutting, per the company release. Practical details such as hours and the street address appear on Peter Piper Pizza’s locations page, which lists the store at 5550 S. Buckner Blvd., Ste. 300. The listing shows typical hours running from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, with later closing times on weekends.
Part of a wider push
The Mesquite debut fits into a broader Texas expansion this year, as the brand plants more of its updated prototypes in regional hubs. Other markets, including Lubbock, have welcomed new locations that follow the same family-entertainment formula Mesquite is getting. KCBD reported on an April opening in Lubbock that pairs arcade play with pizza and party packages. For Mesquite families, the company is pitching the Summer Pass and birthday offerings as a way to make repeat visits pencil out, whether it is for a kid’s big day or a weekday lunch that comes with built-in screen time.
