Just head to your nearest Greenmarket Farmers Market to check out what’s in season. Today there are over 50+ market locations scattered across the five boroughs. The world-famous flagship market is located in Union Square. Founded in 1976, it currently offers an unparalleled array of fruits, vegetables, cheeses, artisan breads and jams, among many other things.
On any given market day, roughly 60,000 shoppers will pass through the area. It is especially busy during peak season when 140 regional farmers, bakers and fishers gather. Weekly events, such as cooking demonstrations, are also held.
