Dating back to the 1900s, the 2016 New York International Auto Show is the highest-attended auto show in North America. It was also the first.
This year, the event was held March 25-April 3 the Jacob Javits Convention Center. It brought together the leading companies in the automotive industry and showcased some the latest trends spread across four floors.

An interesting aspect of the show was its focus on the future. The automotive industry, as we know it today, is highly competitive, forcing companies to place a special emphasis on innovative technology and design. As such, a few concepts cars were on display to give viewers an idea of what’s to come.
From the looks of it, the future looks to be pretty interconnected and efficient. Many of the concept cars featured sleek, aerodynamic bodies and were fitted with smart technology in the form of touch screens tablets or flat screen televisions.

My favorite of the bunch was the Volkswagen electric-powdered BUDD-e van, which uses voice-activated commands and a natural speech recognition tool. It is, as VW states, a “truly social car.”
