Home base may be the only place where you can dine indoors with your dog (thanks, health code), but when the weather is warm, Washington D.C. is full of patios where pups are welcome. Whether you're seeking a casual beer or snack or a full meal, there are plenty of spots around town to take your dog for an alfresco dinner—or lunch, or brunch, or beer.

Room 11
Columbia Heights

After getting in some playtime with your pup at the Columbia Heights Dog Park, treat both of yourselves to a drink at this cozy wine bar and cafe, located just a block away. On the front patio, there's plenty of fresh, cool water for your pooch, and delicious housemade bloody marys or Italian wine by the glass for you.

Various locations

You've undoubtedly heard of this burger behemoth, which has tons of locations around D.C., but did you know they have a dog menu? While you savor your burger on the patio, your dog can enjoy a bag of dog treats, or a "Pooch-ini" sundae with treats and peanut butter.

Le Diplomate
Logan Circle

Bring your (leashed) dog to this hip Logan Circle French bistro, where you can enjoy one of D.C.'s best burgers (the Burger Americain, with crispy frites) or a plateau of chilled seafood while watching the crowds go by on 14th Street. Your dog will enjoy it, too: servers have bowls of fresh water and housemade dog biscuits at the ready.

Chaplin's Ramen House & Cocktail Bar
Shaw

Happy hour is made extra-happy on the patio at this '30s-style Japanese eatery, which offers a wide selection of $6 cocktails from 4-7pm every day. Pair them with some gyoza or cream cheese wontons (a.k.a. crab rangoon), or turn it into a full meal by ordering up a steaming bowl of ramen. Either way, expect your pooch to receive lots of attention—and fresh water and treats—from the cheerful waitstaff.

Take your dog for a long stroll along the waterfront, then join the fray at this always-bustling Tex-Mex cantina, which is known for its fish tacos. Servers will bring dog treats and water, so you and your pooch can catch the sunset views together while you sip a margarita or Corona. And if you're planning to bring your dog to see the Nats as part of Pups at the Park, you can catch a free shuttle bus to or from the game.

Bardo Brewing

Also located near the ballpark for maximum Pups at the Park action, Bardo Brewing's massive new outdoor complex has space for all the dogs (and, you know, people) in your life. Grab a picnic table, share a few pitchers of ginger lager or Marion Berry Ale (brewed with fresh marionberries), and enjoy the views of the water while your dog socializes with some new furry friends—including Bar Dog, the Australian cattle dog who serves as the company's mascot and head security guard.

Denizens Brewing Co.
Silver Spring

With 200 seats on its canine-friendly patio, this massive brewery and beer garden in Silver Spring has enough room for big parties of both humans and dogs. Your pup can accompany you to Tuesday trivia night (it kicks off at 8pm) or to enjoy live music and food trucks on the patio on weekends. And of course, there's plenty of interesting beers to try, from peach berliner weisse to rye IPA.
