If ramen is what you're after, look no further than this new business. The newcomer to Downtown, called Rakkan, is located at 359 E 1st St.
It's a stateside expansion for the Tokyo-based company, which already operates several locations in Japan. Look for starters like edamame, avocado sashimi, agedashi tofu and and gyoza ahead of the main event: ramen options featuring soy sauce, miso, salt and tomato (vegan) broths, and ranging in price from $9.50-$12.
Rakkan has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp.
Maki Y., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 15th, said: "This is a great bowl of ramen. Definitely one of the best ones I've had. Better than Jinya. The broth has the right temperature and super flavorful."
Yelper Joseph N. added: “My vegan heart goes a flutter! Vegan ramen, vegan rice bowl, and vegan goyza at a good price and great friendly service!!”
And erika c. said: "Shoyu ramen was mmmmmmm! It has been decades since I've eaten ramen where I like both the noodles and the soup. The noodles were of good texture and were *perfectly* cooked."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Rakkan is open daily from 11am–11pm.
