A new seafood market has opened up shop in the neighborhood. The fresh addition to Sun Valley, called Nordic Catch, is located at 8210 Lankershim Blvd.
Nordic Catch bills itself as a seafood purveyor that "has partnered with fisheries in Iceland that all meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability."
"All of our partner facilities are certified by the FDA , Marine Stewardship Council, and Iceland Responsible Fisheries," the website states. And, it's the only distributor in Los Angeles with a 36-hour freshness guarantee, which means that fishers in Iceland are catching fish specifically for Nordic Catch's orders.
Customers can choose from a variety of ocean-farmed, freshly caught, and specialty fish, such as cod, haddock, salmon, sole, and monkfish. (You can see the full selection here.)
The new seafood market has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp.
Jojo C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on August 21st, said: "This is the best place you can get seafood from! Why you ask!?!? BECAUSE IT IS FRESH!! As fresh as it can get!!! It's caught in Iceland and immediately shipped to LA. Best cod I have ever had!"
Yelper A T. added: “This business is amazing! I love getting my FRESH Icelandic cod here!!! It's unlike any cod I've ever had because it's fresh and Icelandic. I'm told that the cod is literally caught then shipped.”
