A new spot to score coffee, tea and more has opened up shop in the neighborhood. Located at 601 W 5th St. in Downtown, the new arrival is called Nossa Familia Coffee.

This new spot, located in the lobby of the CalEdison building, celebrated its DTLA opening on September 15th. Started by a former Brazilian exchange student in Portland, Oregon, Nossa Familia Coffee sources beans from its family farms in Brazil, as well as from other sustainable fair-trade farms throughout South America and Africa. 

Look for items on the menu like espresso, cafezinho (Brazilian-style coffee), cortados, mocha fogo and more. There are tea options on offer, too, as well as a selection of donuts to round out the menu. 

With a five-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp so far, Nossa Familia Coffee is on its way to developing a local fan base.

Phuongngan B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on September 15th, said: "Move over, Nice, the new Crown has arrived in FiDi. Located in the Torrey Pines/ CalEdison building next to the Gas Tower and US Bank Tower, and Nossa Familia is a family-owned coffee business."

Yelper Contreras L. added: “A hidden gem in DTLA that will not be soon enough. This small coffee shop located within the old SoCal Edison which is the Torrey Pines bank has just opened up.”

And Melissa G. said: "Having read Eater LA, they recommended one of the prettiest coffee bars as the newly opened Nossa Familia Coffee -- Brazilian style coffee out of Portland, OR. Love at first sight."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Nossa Familia Coffee is open weekdays from 7:30am–2:30pm. (It's closed on weekends.)
