A new Mexican spot has debuted in the neighborhood. Called Mercado Taqueria, the fresh addition is located at 11929 Ventura Blvd. in Studio City.
Mercado Taqueria is the latest addition to the Cocinas y Calaveras family of restaurants, which includes other eateries such as Mercado Santa Monica and Maradentro in Brentwood. The restaurant specializes in tacos and tablitas on handmade tortillas.
For starters, look for items like calabacitas toast with chile ancho refried beans and taquitos de papa with chipotle mashed potatoes.
On the entree side of the menu, there's a selection of tacos like jicama shrimp with sweet chile mango salsa; chorizo with chile-marinated wild mushrooms and more. For the tablitas, expect to see choices like chicken, shrimp, carne asada and more served with pico de gallo, salsa brava, cebollita and tortillas. (You can check out the full menu here.)
With a five-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp so far, the new addition has already made a good impression.
Y T., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on September 12th, said: "Awesome new taco place by Mercado! Great drinks and awesome service!!!! Great tacos de carnitas and nacho libres with carne asada!!!"
