A new spot to score sunglasses and more has made its debut in the neighborhood. The new addition to Downtown, called Gentle Monster, is located at 816 S Broadway.
Gentle Monster—a popular South Korean eyewear company with outposts throughout Asia, in New York City and now Los Angeles—features an array of signature sunglasses. Each store doubles as a de facto art gallery as well, with curated rotating art installations throughout.
Expect to find a variety of new release sunglass designs like the "Tazi" with an acetate frame, 100 percent UV protection, and black, white and clear pink frame options
The spot also features frames for prescription glasses as well. Look for the new release "Ell 01" with black acetate frame and gold metal bridge. (You can check out the full line of glasses available here.)
The new arrival has proven popular thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp.
Lila H., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 13th, said: "Finally open in LA. By far the coolest sunglass store. It's like an art museum and sunglass store in one! The brand is from Korea-their stores in Korea and NYC are also super innovative."
Yelper Andrew W. added: “The newly-opened boutique by South Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster is a stunner: According to the sales associates and the artistic design concept is based on the idea of 'the harvest."
