A new Hawaiian spot, offering poke and more, has made its debut in the neighborhood. The fresh addition to North Hollywood, Hoke Poke, is located at 5077 Lankershim Blvd.
This is the third location for Hoke Poke, which has already turned itself around in downtown LA and Valencia. Like the other outposts, NoHo's Hoke Poke starts with a base of sushi rice, brown rice, or citrus kale, then allows diners to select the fish of their choice (including spicy tuna, salmon, and citrus scallops), mix-ins like edamame, cucumbers, and mango, and a choice of various sauces.
The whole creation can then be topped with anything from avocado to Flamin' Hot Cheetos. Hoke Poke also offers some pre-mixed bowl combinations, and for sweet tooths, there's boba milk tea and cookies for dessert. (You can view the full menu here.)
With a 4.5-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp so far, the fresh addition has gotten a good response.
Mikey H., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 10th, said: "This place Hoke Poke is no joke. Fish is fresh, which is the secret to any great poke place. The sauces are on point. Service is super friendly."
Yelper Darin B. agrees: "I wouldn't call myself a poke expert, but I've certainly had my share of it recently. This fish is fresher than the Prince of Bel-Air. The sauces are homemade and I can tell they really take their time to bring the right flavors together."
