Looking to chow down on some Asian fusion fare? A new spot has you covered. The new addition to Downtown, called Broken Mouth, is located at 231 E 9th St.

Broken Mouth specializes in Asian comfort food with Hawaiian influences; expect to see plate lunches and Hawaiian-style breakfast on the menu. Options include the "Local Plate" with Portuguese sausage, eggs, and rice; beef, chicken, shrimp or tofu fritters served with purple rice and potato-mac salad; and Spam musubi.

There are Hawaiian-style banchan on the menu as well, like cucumber kimchi, braised potatoes, and "Mama's Atchara." (You can check out the full menu here.)

With a five-star rating out of 18 reviews on Yelp so far, the fresh arrival is on its way to developing a local fan base.

Brian K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 21st, said: "Simple, yet delicious homestyle menu. I had the chicken fritter with Lee's hot sauce. The chicken itself was nice and crispy on the outside layer and the inside was soft and juicy."

Yelper Jun K. added: “Just came in for brunch and ordered the beef fritters and the chicken Sandwich. Wow! The juiciest beef pajun (fritters) I have had in recent memory.”

And Jenikka N. said: "Sigh...what can I say? The shrimp fritter plate. The potato mac salad. The chicken sandwich. The mochi donuts. THE BREAD PUDDING. Every single dish I've tried has been nothing short of delicious!"

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Broken Mouth is open Tuesday–Sunday from 10am–4pm. (It's closed on Monday.)
