A new French/New American eatery and cocktail bar has debuted in the neighborhood. Located at 1001 Studewood St. in Greater Heights, the new arrival is called Maison Pucha Bistro.
This new bistro is the first solo project from chef Manuel Pucha, an Ecuadorian chef who hails from New York City. The project also includes Pucha's brothers Victor and Cristian, who run the pastry program and the front of the house, respectively.
The menu is billed as upscale French and American, but expect to see some Ecuadorian and South American influences in the dishes as well.
For the first course, look for items such as lobster bisque with chanterelle, butternut squash, sage, and cognac; beef and goat cheese salad with black pepper-herbed chèvre, in a red wine vinaigrette; and steak tartare made with diced filet mignon, caper, shallot, and cornichon.
Diners can also enjoy main courses like Skuna Bay salmon served with vegetable pearl salad, smoked carrot coulis, and chocolate foam; a tequila-brined and applewood-smoked Berkshire pork chop with ratatouille; and duck confit with frisée, sarladaise potato, and balsamic glaze.
Rounding your meal out are desserts like organic Ecuadorian coffee crème brûlée and apple tarte tartin with house-made ice cream. (You can check out the full dinner menu here.)
Maison Pucha Bistro has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.
Austin A., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on December 1st, said: "What a refreshing addition to the neighborhood and a sight for sore eyes at that location! They are doing a new cuisine type in the Heights: French food with Ecuadorian flare."
Yelper Armando N. added: “This place was decent for only being in its second week. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare, and it came out perfectly."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Maison Pucha Bistro is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 5pm–10pm, Thursday–Saturday from 5pm–11pm, and Sunday from 5pm–9pm. (It's closed on Monday.)
