A new nail salon has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called Base Coat, the new arrival is located at 830 N Fairfax Ave. in Melrose.
This new spot, which has other outposts in Los Angeles and Colorado, specializes in organic manis and pedis for both adults and kids.
There are an array of services on hand. Options include a quick-coat manicure or pedicure with an aromatherapy hand soak, nail shaping, cuticle care and choice of regular nail polish color or natural shiny buff; a base coat with the addition of a hydrating crème hand massage; or the lux coat pedicure, which includes a foot soak in a aromatic blend of pure essential oils and mineral-rich Himalayan pink salts. Base Coat has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a five-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.
Laura S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on December 2nd, said: "Great spot! Calm vibe and nice employees. I had a basic base mani with minimalist nail art. Alissa did a lovely job. So nice to feel like my hands aren't being stripped with chemicals!"
Yelper J H. added: “Cute and clean place for an amazing nail experience. Plus everything is toxin-free, vegan and not animal-tested! Awesome range of colors and very friendly staff. Parking lot in front."
