Looking for a new spot to get climbing and more? A new business is here to help. The newcomer to Burbank, called Verdigo Boulders, is located at 266 E. Magnolia Blvd.
This is the latest addition from the Touchstone Climbing company, which has eleven other outposts in Northern and Southern California.
The bouldering concept is a style of rock climbing without the assistance of ropes or harnesses, according to the business' website. Custom-made walls at this gym range in height from 10-15 feet tall and require little more than a good pair of climbing shoes.
For beginners, the gym recommends attending one of the introductory classes on offer, like "Intro to Bouldering," where students learn the "gym’s layout, safety practices, bouldering etiquette, and basic technique," a description on the site reads.
Fitness classes are in the works for the space as well, and will be available once things are fully up and running. Guests should expect to see classes such as "AcroYoga," "Bouldering Bootcamp," and "Buns & Guns." (You can take a look at the LA Boulder's calendar to get an idea of what's in store here.)
The newcomer has already attracted fans thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.
Sheri W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on February 9th, said: "I'd heard rumors of a climbing gym opening in Burbank for forever, and I'm so glad it's this one."
Yelper Emily K. added: “I have been waiting nearly a year to climb at Verdigo!! After much anticipation, I got to climb during the soft opening. Because it is a soft opening, the hours are from 6pm to 10pm.”
And Sera G. said: "Finally! A climbing gym in Burbank! FYI: as of the time of this review, it's only a "soft opening" for members of other Touchstone climbing gyms (so, no day passes, etc)."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Verdigo Boulders is open weekdays from 11am–10pm, and weekends from 10am–6pm.
