If the Sunset district had its own movie theater, there'd practically be no need to leave the quiet confines of the fogbelt in search of weekend distractions.

As it is, the days ahead offer plenty of opportunities to engage with neighbors, try new things, and better know your neighborhood.

Tonight, Green Apple Books on the Park is hosting an author event with Richard Powers about his new novel, "The Overstory."

Try some new flavor combinations on Saturday and drop by the Andytown Roastery, where Boba Guys is serving bubble teas during a one-day-only event. If you're curious about tasting a plant-based menu of Mexican pastries, stop by Cybelle's Pizza for their Shop+Eat Vegan Potluck.

And on Saturday and Sunday nights, Circus Circus presents its latest show, Fog City Swing. According to producers, the evening "will conjure the magic of discovering the city with acrobatics, juggling, aerial arts and more" in a full-length circus show.

Here's a look at what else is going west of Stanyan Street this weekend:

Friday, April 27
