The Grateful Gnome Sandwich Shoppe & Brewery
4369 Stuart St., Berkeley

The Grateful Gnome Sandwich Shoppe & Brewery is a new spot offering craft brews, sandwiches and more. Located in a former antiques shop, owners Dan Appell and Bess Dougherty modeled the spot after the deli Appell's father ran in Parsippany, N.J., Westword reports.
The sandwich shop doubles as a brewery, with 12 beers on tap including the rotating C Squared Cider and Westbound & Down Double IPA.
Hungry? Approximately 50 different sandwiches are offered, all packed with fresh ingredients including meat sliced right at the counter. Try the Sloppy Gnome Club with turkey, beef and Swiss or a classic cheesesteak (always a favorite). (The full sandwich menu is available here and you can check out the beer menu here, although offerings may vary.)
Yelp users are generally positive about The Grateful Gnome Sandwich Shoppe & Brewery, which currently holds four stars out of 14 reviews on the site.
Jon D., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on April 12, said: "There is nothing like this place. Great atmosphere, great people, great food, great beer and a very grateful gnome running the show!"
And Bill G. said: "Long-awaited opening day and the Gnome did not disappoint. The inside space is unique with a very wide-open dining area, patio space and a long bar. Sandwiches are huge, enough for two meals. Great space, great Jersey-style sandwiches and great beer."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: The Grateful Gnome Sandwich Shoppe & Brewery is open from 10 a.m.–11 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday and 10 a.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday.
Thirsty Monk Denver
1604 E. 17th Ave., City Park West

Thirsty Monk Denver is a 12-barrel brewery now open along “Restaurant Row” in Uptown. The brewery got its start nearly a decade ago in Asheville, N.C., and this is one of the chain's first locations outside of its home state, reports 5280 magazine.
In addition to the Belgian-style brews on tap, you'll find a selection of "food flights," each offering an array of bite-sized snacks prepared by nearby restaurants.
Thirsty Monk Denver's current rating of 4.5 stars out of four reviews on Yelp indicates positive attention from users.

Adrienne L. added: "Good service and good selection of beers. Clean place. Drinks average out to be $5 for a 16-ounce, which is decently cheap."
Thirsty Monk Denver is open from 4 p.m.–midnight on Monday-Thursday, noon–1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon–10 p.m. on Sunday.
Alternation Brewing Company
1539 S. Broadway, Overland

Alternation Brewing Company debuted last December on South Broadway, with three frequently rotating taps.
Denver Hopper notes that the brewery's founders, Brendan and Jenn Pleskow, envisioned the taproom as a way for people to "dabble in different beer on a regular basis." It's closed Monday and Tuesday to give Brendan plenty of time to create fresh, interesting brews.
With five stars out of 17 reviews on Yelp, the tiny brewery is receiving positive nods.
Yelper Laura H., who reviewed the spot on May 5, wrote: "Alternation was one of the best craft breweries I've been to in a while! The bartenders were friendly and we had wonderful conversations. The beers were unique and a great introduction for anyone new to beer drinking."
"Stopped here yesterday and couldn't believe they've only been open since December," said Chris R. "Every beer was delicious; often new breweries take some time to grow into the space and equipment but these guys nailed it right away. I'd put the FTB-12 up against any other hazy IPA's in Colorado right now."
Alternation Brewing Company is open from 4–10 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, 1–10 p.m. on Friday, noon–10 p.m. on Saturday and noon–8 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday and Tuesday.)
