A new spot to score ramen and more has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 815 S. Aiken Ave. in Shadyside, the newcomer is called Fujiya Ramen.

The family-owned chain — which has eateries in New York and New Jersey — comes courtesy of Tokyo-born Zen Yoshida, whose own father perfected his ramen-making skills in Tokyo in the 1960s, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The menu offers seven types of ramen, including traditional tonkotsu (pork belly broth), miso and kaisen with shrimp, clams and fish cake. Fujiya Ramen also offers rice bowl dishes and yakitori meat skewers. For dessert, try the tempura ice cream or mochi in flavors like red bean, green tea and mango.

Fujiya Ramen has made a good impression thus far, with a four-star rating out of 13 reviews on Yelp.

Tiffany Y. said, "This newly opened place definitely has the best authentic Japanese ramen in Pittsburgh! It tasted the same as what I had in Japan. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. I definitely will come back!"

Yelper Brian L. added, "At the moment, Fujiya is probably the best ramen in Pittsburgh. In addition to the typical tonkotsu you'll find at most good ramen places in the U.S., they also have a seafood ramen in a light broth with clams and shrimp that is pretty fantastic."

Head on over to check it out: Fujiya Ramen is open from 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 4:30–10 p.m. from Tuesday-Friday, 11:30 a.m.–10 p.m. on Saturday and noon–9 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
