A new cocktail bar and restaurant with an open-air courtyard has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The newcomer to the French Quarter, called Longway Tavern, is located at 719 Toulouse St.

Longway Tavern, which occupies a building that dates back to 1794, is owned by partners Robert LeBlanc and Liam Deegan, who also run Lower Garden District's Barrel Proof. The new establishment aims to be "a casual spot where you can grab a bite and a beer before heading off to other destinations, or a place to savor a nightcap when the party is winding down," it says on its website.

Try menu options such as the home fries with pork belly, crème fraîche, caramelized onion, chives and caviar, or opt for an entree like the pork shoulder steak with braised fennel, roasted garlic and chili flakes served with broccoli rabe. Pair your meal with one of Longway Tavern's 12 cocktails, like the signature Irish Morning Manhattan, complete with Tullamore Dew, Bittermens coffee liqueur and sweet vermouth.

The new arrival has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.

Travis K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 20, said, "Brand new to the neighborhood and already exceeding my expectations. First impressions include a friendly staff and beautiful courtyard in the back. We had a table of four and were served delicious cocktails immediately."

Yelper Grace M. added, “I am so excited about Longway Tavern! The interior is beautiful and the outside courtyard is a magical place to spend the evening. The Greeña Colada and the Sidecar were absolutely delicious.”

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Longway Tavern is open from 4 p.m.–1 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and 4 p.m.–2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
