'Coffee Science' Makes Mid-City DebutPhoto: Alvin D./Yelp

Craving coffee and tea? You're in luck: a new business has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The fresh arrival to the Tulane/Gravier neighborhood in Mid-City, called Coffee Science, is located at 410 S. Broad Ave.

The new spot comes courtesy of owner Tom Oliver, who has worked in the coffee industry for more than 30 years.

Oliver is also the creator of the mocha frosted coffee, the New Orleans Advocate reported. The concoction of espresso, ice cream and whipped cream became so popular, it developed its own following.

Customers will be able to find the mocha frosted coffee at Coffee Science, as well as pour overs and cold brews. There are also light eats available, including lunch sandwiches.

The fresh arrival has proven popular thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.

Jen L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on February 19th, said: "Love the style of this place with the retro uniforms and the precision in making you a cuppa. The backroom is gorgeous. What a lovely renovation. And the backyard is just waiting for more furniture; there are currently stools on the deck."

Yelper Alvin D. added: “I'm sure you've seen the buzz around this opening, and with the couple of lattes I've gotten so far, I'm a fan.”

And Dan P. said: "Best espresso I've had in NOLA so far. And the owner is a great guy. Can't recommend this place enough!"

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Coffee Science is open weekdays from 6am–4pm, and weekends from 8am–4pm.
