Wedding season is just kicking off, but bridesmaid-oriented retailer Weddington Way isn't celebrating: the company has shuttered its Santa Monica location inside the Banana Republic at 1202 3rd St.
The closure isn't limited to the company's Los Angeles spot: locations in Dallas, Minneapolis and Houston have gone dark, with Weddington Way's remaining brick-and-mortar outposts scheduled to shut down by the end of May.
"In early April, Gap Inc made the decision to exit Weddington Way," reads a statement on Weddington Way's website. "As a result, we are in the process of closing our shops within Banana Republic stores around the country while evaluating future plans for Weddington Way. We hope that Weddington Way will continue to serve you through our website indefinitely, but at this point – pending a decision on future plans – we can only accept orders made through June 11, 2018."
Established in 2011, Weddington Way aimed to "transform an outdated and stressful bridesmaid dress shopping experience, and make it enjoyable again for brides and bridesmaids alike." However, it seems the brand failed to gain enough traction to prove its worth to Gap, Inc., which acquired the company in 2016.
