Looking to chow down on some Asian fusion fare? The Red Boat Viet Fusion Restaurant, a local Vietnamese fusion joint, has expanded to a new location at 334 N. Charles St. in Mount Vernon.

Owners Minji Seo and John Nguyen are serving up similarly accessible Vietnamese fusion food as their original location, but with the addition of a full bar. The eatery has another outpost in downtown Baltimore and two more on the way in College Park, MD and Boca Raton, Fl.

Seo told the Baltimore Sun, "Our concept is just to be very simple and be friendly with people."

On the menu, look for offerings like the Korean bulgogi beef rolls, the Vietnamese tacos filled with lemongrass pork, and the Saigon Dog hot dog topped with banh-mi style pickles, lemongrass pork and fried onions.

In addition, diners will find classic Vietnamese favorites like a variety of beef-based phở choices, and pork banh mi with pickled carrots and daikon.

With a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp so far, the new arrival seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Pauline H., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 29, said, "After learning about $5 Taco Tuesday (2 tacos), I wanted to give this place a try. It did not disappoint! The staff is simply the sweetest and incredibly friendly. The Bulgogi tacos were larger than I expected, and delicious."

And Yelper John W. added, “ What these guys are doing with hotdogs is simply magical. Kimchi and bulgogi topped hotdogs are what would put Red Boat in the running for Best Baltimore hotdog.”

Head on over to check it out: The Red Boat Viet Fusion Restaurant is open from noon–10 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, noon–1 a.m. on Friday-Saturday, and noon–8 p.m. on Sunday. It's closed on Mondays.
