A new Korean restaurant that specializes in soup has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Tucked into a small strip mall, the new addition to Koreatown, called Bukchon, is located at 361 S. Western Ave., Suite 101.
Try the samgye-tang, or ginseng chicken soup, made with a whole young chicken, garlic, rice, jujube dates and ginseng. On the menu, other offerings include abalone whole chicken soup, black sesame hand-cut Korean noodles and stir-fried marinated beef over rice.
Large steamed dumplings are on offer as well, along with an assortment of side dishes.
Bukchon has proven popular thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of nine reviews on Yelp.
Chubbs C., who reviewed the new spot on June 27, wrote, "This place is awesome. ... I was happy to see this place does a 'whole chicken' soup and wow it's delicious. The sides come along with it, and I added the dumplings which are large and flavorful."
"One of the many really good noodle shops on Western in K-Town," said Yelper Thomas A. "I ordered the kimchi noodles. Just make sure you bring an appetite, as the bowl was huge. The flavor was a bit one note, but the noodles themselves were excellent."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Bukchon is open from 10 a.m.–10 p.m. daily.
