Craving gelato? Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top gelato destinations in Seattle, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to venture when cravings strike.

1. Gelatiamo

Topping the list is Gelatiamo, a downtown bakery that makes its artisanal gelato fresh each day using seasonal produce and organic milk. Located at 1400 Third Ave. and Union Street, it's the highest rated gelato spot in Seattle, boasting 4.5 stars out of 625 reviews on Yelp.

Owner Maria Coassin brought her Italian-inspired gelato recipe to America and first established this spot in 1996. Gelatiamo offers scoops, cones and bowls of individual gelato flavors but also does specialty items such as gelato cakes, bonbons and pops.

2. Fainting Goat Gelato

Next up is Wallingford's Fainting Goat Gelato, situated at 1903 N. 45th St. and North Burke Avenue. With 4.5 stars out of 596 reviews on Yelp, the spot to score gelato has proven to be a local favorite.

Hailing from Izmir, Turkey, the owners of this dessert spot handcraft their gelato daily in shop to ensure maximum freshness and quality. Flavors are rotated daily and include classics like dark chocolate, mint and vanilla. Notable flavors are also on offer, like Sicilian pistachio, Turkish hazelnut, honey lavender and pumpkin spice. 

3. D'Ambrosio Gelato

Ballard's D'Ambrosio Gelato, located at 5339 Ballard Ave. NW (between Vernon Place and North 22nd Avenue), is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the cafe 4.5 stars out of 336 reviews.

This establishment prides itself on its handcrafted frozen treats and says it makes its Italian gelato fresh daily using organic, local dairy and organic cane sugar, per D'Ambrosio's websiteLook for gelato flavors like honey and walnut, ricotta, strawberry and hazelnut. 

On top of offering gelato and sorbet, the cafe also features an espresso bar made with Blue Star Coffee Roasters products and bakery items.

4. Bottega Italiana

Bottega Italiana, a spot to score gelato and coffee in Pike Place Market, is another much-loved go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 285 Yelp reviews. The shop first opened in 2003 and is owned by Italians Luca Guerrieri, Antonella Ragazzi and David Arato. Head over to 1425 First Ave. to try it for yourself.

5. Nutty Squirrel Gelato

Finally, there's Nutty Squirrel Gelato, a Phinney Ridge favorite with 4.5 stars out of 67 reviews. Stop by 7212 Greenwood Ave. North (between 72nd and 73rd streets) to hit up the spot next time you're craving the creamy Italian dessert.

The shop now has three locations around the Seattle area and features a different menu at each. At the Greenwood Avenue location, look for rotating flavors like French butter caramel, Hilo with coconut and activated charcoal, banana Nutella and the vegan strawberry basil.
