A quiet stretch of Seattle's Lake City neighborhood turned into a crime scene Friday night when a man in his 20s was shot and killed, according to Seattle police. Officers were called around 8 p.m. to the 12000 block of 40th Avenue Northeast for reports of a shooting and found the victim lying in the roadway with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect had fled before officers arrived, and detectives believe a vehicle was involved. No arrests have been made, and investigators have not released a suspect description.
Police Hunt Shooter And Possible Getaway Car
According to KOMO News, investigators have not yet released the victim's identity. The Seattle Police Department said the killing is the city's first homicide of July, following a June with no homicides at all, which marked the first June without a homicide since 1970. Detectives told KOMO News they are searching for both a suspect and a vehicle believed to be linked to the shooting, but they have not shared any descriptions.
Neighbors Say Violence Has Been Rising
Recent incidents have left Lake City residents uneasy, with local coverage pointing to more stabbings and shootings along the corridor.
