In search of a new favorite vegetarian spot?
Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top restaurants serving vegetarian food around Detroit, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to fill the bill.
1. Detroit Vegan Soul

Topping the list is Detroit Vegan Soul. Located at 8029 Agnes St. in West Village, the soul food spot is the highest-rated vegetarian restaurant in Detroit, boasting four stars out of 325 reviews on Yelp. It has a second location on Grand River Avenue.
The restaurant started as a meal delivery and catering company and has since become a store that partners with local food providers such as The Brinery, Earthworks, Keep Growing Detroit and D Town farms.
Menu items include creamy black-eyed pea hummus dip served with cucumbers, pita, olives and pickled beets; cornmeal battered tofu served with a broccoli and corn medley, redskin potatoes and hush puppies; and a "BLT" made of smoked coconut bacon, lettuce, tomato, soy-free veganaise and avocado in a whole wheat wrap or raw collard wrap.
2. Brooklyn Street Local

Next up is Corktown's Brooklyn Street Local, situated at 1266 Michigan Ave. With four stars out of 231 reviews on Yelp, the diner has proven to be a local favorite. The spot offers local, seasonal and organic ingredients sourced from urban farms in Detroit as much as possible.
Vegetarian menu items include Panini V with house-made focaccia, goat cheese, roasted beets, oyster mushrooms, balsamic glaze and kale; vegan poutine with hand-cut fries, mushroom gravy and Daiya vegan cheese; and Ashley's veggie burger, made with house-made veggie and lentil patty, pea shoots, red onion, tomato and aioli or vegan mayo.
3. PJ's Lager House

PJ's Lager House, located at 1254 Michigan Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the music venue, pub and vegetarian spot four stars out of 116 reviews. The establishment has been a Corktown fixture since 1914, when it opened as a neighborhood bakery and restaurant, then masqueraded as a furniture store during Prohibition.
Menu items include a banh mi sandwich in salad form — deep-fried tofu triangles topped with homemade peanut sauce and served over lettuce and cucumber, carrot and jalapeño slaw. Or try the tempeh Reuben with coleslaw, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing, served on grilled marble rye.
4. Chickpea In the D

Stop by 2 John R to hit up the New American, vegetarian and Middle Eastern spot next time you're looking to satisfy your cravings.
