Second Best Detroit is a casual American restaurant and bar that recently debuted in Midtown. The spot comes courtesy of Four Man Ladder Management Group, the Detroit Press reports, the same team behind the nearby Grey Ghost restaurant.

An assortment of bottled and canned brews are on offer, with all-American favorites and modern craft varieties like Atwater's Dirty Blonde, Killian's Irish Red and Axle City Pale. (See the full list here.)

On the menu, expect to find elevated comfort food such as seven-layer deviled eggs; pulled pork hush puppies with white barbecue sauce; and heirloom tomato grilled cheese with avocado and tobacco onion. (You can check out the dining menu here.)

With a 4.5-star Yelp rating out of five reviews, Second Best Detroit has been getting positive attention.

Yelper Danielle P., who reviewed the spot on Aug. 8, wrote, "Great relaxed atmosphere, fun young crowd and a grilled cheese that is to die for! Will definitely be going back — a lot."

"Awesome vibe and great food," shared Yelper Sean V. "The chicken sandwich is out of this world. ... The drinks are delicious, and the service was super fast and attentive."

Second Best Detroit is open daily from 4 p.m.–2 a.m.

Detroit Shipping Company is a food court and beer hall designed from 21 refurbished shipping containers, complete with live music and art installations. 

The restaurant collective features six different restaurants, two bars, a live stage for music events and more. 

Hungry? Come indulge in Caribbean fusion offerings like Bahamas conch fritters with tamarind aioli, and tapas such as curry lamb sausage montadito with fresh mint and Nutella. (You can view all current menus here.)

Detroit Shipping Company currently holds 3.5 stars out of 26 reviews on Yelp, indicating fair reviews.

Yelper Casey Z., who reviewed it on Aug. 5, wrote, "So I'll start off by saying that the atmosphere and the concept are amazing, and I definitely see the potential for five stars here. To get there though, the restaurant offerings need to step up their game. Bangkok 96 was pretty disappointing."

And Yelper Erin S., said, "This place has only been open for eight days, so I may revise later, but I just had a great experience. Parking was easy/free, lines were short, food was delicious and drinks were solid."

Detroit Shipping Company is open from 11 a.m.–midnight on Monday–Thursday and Sunday and 11 a.m.–2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

SheWolf Pastificio & Bar

SheWolf Pastificio & Bar is an Italian spot specializing in contemporary Roman-style cuisine. The restaurant comes courtesy of Tim Ponton, Frank Arcori and chef Anthony Lombardo, who finds his inspiration in "the modern metropolis that Rome is today," Eater Detroit reports.

Menu offerings include whole roasted Mediterranean sea bream with braised greens and roasted fennel; orecchiette pasta with spicy lamb neck ragu and whipped ricotta; and sweet and sour eggplant with pine nuts, raisins and puffed farro. (See the full dinner menu here.)

SheWolf Pastificio & Bar is developing a local fan base with 4.5 stars out of 54 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Koeun M., who reviewed it on July 7, wrote, "Had the cacio e pepe pasta, the lamb and rapini to share. Everything was phenomenal and perfectly portioned. Finished off with the cannoli gelato and the berry tart crisp. Both were delicious!"

"SheWolf definitely lived up to the hype!" added Yelper Kimberly H. "The restaurant offers ambiance and a cool chic vibe. We shared the beef carpaccio, the pasta carbonara, lobster pasta and ended with the panna cotta and coffee. All of the dishes were excellent!"  

SheWolf Pastificio & Bar is open from 5–11 p.m. on Tuesday-Thursday, 5 p.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 4–10 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
