The small Chicago-based chain of stores offers its own line of ties (including bow ties), socks, shirts and pants. Pho Viet

Pho Viet is a Vietnamese restaurant that recently opened at 2628 11th St. NW in Columbia Heights. There are the usual phở meat options, like beef eye round, well-done brisket, flank steak and chicken. There is also a lemongrass phở with red chile, as well as a vegetarian version. In addition to phở, diners will find vermicelli bowls, rice plates, stir-fried egg noodle dishes and hot pots.

A League of Her Own

Now open at 2319 18th St. NW in Adams Morgan is A League of Her Own. It's a lesbian bar affiliated with the gay sports bar Pitchers, located upstairs. The two establishments share a short menu of appetizers, sandwiches, salads and pizza. There's a full bar, and TVs are hooked to video games or tuned to sports. Enter from the street or through Pitchers.

Karribean Kitchen

Karribean Kitchen is a Jamaican spot that recently debuted in the former location of bar and restaurant The Gateway at 1400 Meridian Place NW in Columbia Heights. Jerk chicken, curry and fish (baked or steamed) dominate the menu. There are also patties (chicken, beef or veggie-filled pastries), and sides like collard greens, rice and peas, and spinach.

District Doughnut

Finally, District Doughnut is a newcomer at The Wharf, 5 Market Square SW. The homegrown mini-chain, which includes a kiosk in Nationals Park, makes its doughnuts daily from scratch. The ever-evolving menu currently includes such flavors as salted dulce de leche, Nutella s'more and strawberry glazed. Local roaster Compass Coffee provides the coffee.
