Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best affordable Greek restaurants around Baltimore, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to meet your needs.
1. Souvlaki Greek Cuisine
Topping the list is Souvlaki Greek Cuisine. Located at 1103 W. 36th St. in Hampden, Souvlaki Greek Cuisine is the highest rated budget-friendly Greek restaurant in Baltimore, boasting four stars out of 222 reviews on Yelp.
The rustic blonde wood-paneled spot offers small, shareable bites, like spreads, baked feta cheese and spanakopita, and platters you design yourself. Top lamb, beef, chicken and shrimp skewers with a sauce, for example, and pair it fries (try the Greek style, with feta cheese and oregano) or a salad. Wash it all down with an authentic imported Greek lemonade.
2. Mr. Souvlaki
Next up is Mount Vernon's Mr. Souvlaki. The popular food truck recently opened a kiosk in the Mount Vernon Marketplace at 520 Park Ave. In addition to pork and chicken souvlaki, and lamb, beef and pork gyros, you'll find sides like lemon herb rice pilaf, plus a handful of salads. A sweet rice pudding makes a nice dessert. With 4.5 stars out of 31 reviews on Yelp, this eatery has proven to be a local favorite for those looking for a cheap option.
3. Greek Town Grill
Next up, Greek Town Grill, located at 4715 Eastern Ave., is another top choice. Greek fare in the small restaurant includes gyros, souvlaki and spanakopita. There's more than Greek, however. There are loads of Indian options, like biryani, tandoori and masala dishes, plus Nepali food, including the dumplings known as momos. For American fare, look to the pizzas, subs and sandwiches. Yelpers give this Greektown spot four stars out of 79 reviews.
4. Penn & Pratt
Penn & Pratt is another budget-friendly go-to, with four stars out of 26 Yelp reviews. It's another hybrid, with both Greek and American specialties. Greek options include gyro and souvlaki, a veggie platter of spanakopita, dolma and Greek salad, plus a sub sandwich made with gyro meat, feta cheese and tzatziki sauce. 5. BMore Greek Grill
Finally, check out food truck BMore Greek Grill, which has earned four stars out of 19 reviews on Yelp. All the hits are here: gyro, souvlaki, Greek salad (with or without meat). There are also options like the lamb burger with feta and tzatziki, or Greek fries with lemon, parsley, Old Bay seasoning and more. For dessert, ask for the homemade baklava.
