Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top dessert spots in Pittsburgh, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to meet your needs.
1. La Gourmandine Bakery & Pastry Shop

Topping the list is La Gourmandine Bakery & Pastry Shop. Located at 4605 Butler St. in Central Lawrenceville, the patisserie/cake shop is the highest-rated dessert spot in Pittsburgh, boasting 4.5 stars out of 391 reviews on Yelp. It has three other outposts in the city.
Visitors can expect French pastries such as eclairs, lemon tarts and choux à la crème (cream puffs). The bakery's specialty is the breakfast pastry known as Viennoiserie, specifically, the croissant aux amandes, a butter croissant soaked in syrup and filled with homemade almond cream.
2. Antney's

Next up is Antney's, situated at 1316 Poplar St. in the Westwood. With five stars out of 111 reviews on Yelp, the spot to score ice cream, frozen yogurt and sorbet has proven to be a local favorite.
Open since 2011, the family-run shop offers 16 flavors daily, including classics like vanilla bean, chocolate and strawberry, and seasonal options such as black cherry, pistachio, hazelnut and more. Root beer and cream soda floats are also on offer.
3. Millie's Homemade Ice Cream

Over in Shadyside, Millie's Homemade Ice Cream is another top choice. Located at 232 S. Highland Ave., Yelpers give the shop 4.5 stars out of 292 reviews.
Like its sister shop on Forbes Avenue, this location offers an array of classic and new flavors, including Vietnamese coffee, coconut lime sorbet and chunky chocolate hazelnut. Vegan chocolate, blueberry yuzu, peach sorbet and cantaloupe sorbet options are also available.
4. Waffallonia

Waffallonia at 1709 Murray Ave. in Squirrel Hill South is another much-loved go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 279 Yelp reviews. Waffallonia says it offers authentic Liège waffles, giving Pittsburgh residents a traditional Belgian experience. The yeasted dough makes for an anytime-of-day snack and even the shop's sugar is imported from Belgium, according to its website. It has a second location in Oakland.
Menu items include the original sugar waffle topped with ice cream and chocolate, bananas and Nutella or strawberries and whipped cream.
5. Dave & Andy's

Then there's Dave & Andy's, a Pittsburgh staple that has earned 4.5 stars out of 256 reviews on Yelp. You can find the ice cream shop at 207 Atwood St. in Oakland.
Open since 1983, the dessert destination features over 200 flavors of housemade ice cream and hand-rolled waffle cones. Add-ons include Snickers, Oreo cookies, toasted almonds, chocolate chips, granola, Kit Kats, coconut, walnut, pecans and more. The spot is cash-only, but an in-store ATM is available.
