Delina Eritrean Urban Kitchen serves modern Eritrean food that's made from scratch.

Fans of Ethiopian cuisine will feel at home even if new to Eritrean, with many names representing the same or similar dishes: tsebhi/wat, tibsi/tibs, among others. The small plates menu features many chicken, beef, lamb and vegetable dishes in richly flavored sauces, typically eaten with pieces of spongy injera flatbread. Vegetarians will appreciate the many meat-free options.

The restaurant also has a full bar and outdoor patio.

Yelpers are excited about Delina Eritrean Urban Kitchen, which currently holds 4.5 stars out of 11 reviews on the site.

Dolph H., who reviewed the restaurant on Sept. 9, wrote, "We ordered nine different dishes which were brought to us on a single, large plate so that each of us could sample all nine. The food was fresh and each dish was exceptionally tasty and most enjoyable. The service was excellent."

David S. noted, "The five vegetarian items were fantastic: rich, flavorful and well seasoned. The chicken dish was really tasty as well, and was somehow reminiscent of well-made Chinese food, a fact that didn't reduce our dining pleasure a bit. Plenty of injera was provided, and all three bellies, including the little one, were perfectly satisfied."

Delina Eritrean Urban Kitchen is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on weekdays, noon–11 p.m. on Saturday, and noon–10 p.m. on Sunday.

The Big Greek Cafe is a casual, counter-order restaurant that recently opened  in the former Yamas Mediterranean Grill location.

This is the restaurant group's fourth outlet and features its established favorites, including grilled lamb chops, a spanakopita platter and crispy calamari. Or consider the new Big Greek Bowl, which is made with rice, choice of protein (gyro, pork, chicken, falafel, salmon or shrimp), then topped with veggies and tzatziki and a lemon olive oil vinaigrette.

The Big Greek Cafe is off to a strong start with four stars out of 24 reviews.

Yelper Tara S., who reviewed the eatery on Sept. 9, wrote, "The gyros were so flavorful. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. The potatoes were super good, coated with herbs and flavor and cooked perfectly."

Jack T. noted, "Best food I've ever eaten. I've eaten at all of their locations and this by far is hands down the best they have. Food is fresh, flavorful and vibrant."

The Big Greek Cafe – Bethesda is open from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. daily.

Finally, Thelo Greek Grill is a full-service restaurant with some authentic taverna touches. The menu showcases classic marinated meat dishes like gyros and souvlaki. Cheeses like feta show up in non-meat appetizers. The traditional salads feature fresh tomatoes, onions, olive oil and oregano.

The eatery has recently introduced plans for weekly specials to showcase cuisine from across the Greek provinces and islands, as well as from Macedonia.

With four stars out of 29 reviews on Yelp, Thelo Greek Grill appears to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Yelper M B., who reviewed it on Sept. 9, wrote, "Phenomenal. This place is as authentic as you can get. The owner, John, is warm and likes to get to know his customers. It is like I am eating in someone's home. We are vegetarians, and I have food allergies, and John answered my questions easily."

Yelper Miranda C. wrote, "This new Greek eatery treats you like family the moment you step into the restaurant and makes you feel at home. It is perfect for date nights, meet-ups and hang-outs; a new place to stimulate your taste buds from first bite to last; and your new go-to place for Greek food."

Thelo Greek Grill is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Tuesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
