The Milk Shake Factory is now whipping up frozen desserts at 6000 Penn Ave. in East Liberty.

The shop offers classic, specialty, vegan and dairy-free milkshakes, as well as ice cream sundaes, floats and seasonal beverages. Try the seasonal Hot Chocolate Float (hot chocolate poured over vanilla ice cream) or one of the signature shakes, like the Bananas Foster, (a vanilla shake with caramel, banana, toffee syrup, banana syrup, and cinnamon, topped with whipped cream and a bananas foster truffle). Union Pie Co

Stroll past 1914 Brownsville Road in Carrick and you'll find Union Pie Co, a new spot to score pizza and more.

According to Yelp, the shop comes courtesy of two Pittsburgh natives, Tony and Myles, who believe that "great local products, made by local hard-working people, creates great pizza."

Agreeing with that sentiment, Yelper Stephen B. recently wrote, "... I ordered a pepperoni pizza. All I can say is "wow."  These people get it. They clearly use some of the best ingredients and you can tell the dough is not pre fab.  I can't wait to try something else on my next visit. "

Flipt

A Chateau newcomer, FLIPT is a traditional American spot, offering burgers alongside beer, wine and spirits, that's located at 777 Casino Drive.

Notable menu items include the breakfast burger, with cherrywood smoked bacon, an over-easy egg and aged cheddar; the plant-based Impossible Burger; and the FLIPT Burger Wrap, which includes all the fixings, minus the bun. Read more about it here.

Condado Tacos

Wander over to 4300 Butler St. in Central Lawrenceville and you'll find Condado Tacos.

The build-your-own-taco shop originally launched in Columbus, Ohio, in 2014. Diners can choose their own shells, proteins and toppings, and pair their creations with tequila, mezcal, rum, beer or other adult beverages.

Yelper Kerry M. writes, "I ordered the chicken tacos with lettuce, cheddar cheese, bacon, sour cream and tomatoes. OMG these tacos were incredible! Mouth-watering good. I also tried their rice as a side dish. I liked the rice a lot and would get it again."

Casa Brasil

Stop by 5904 Bryant St. in Highland Park and you'll find Casa Brasil, a pop-up restaurant and Brazilian spot. So far, it's been a popular addition, with Yelpers awarding it five stars out of eight reviews.

Yelpers are enthusiastic about this pop-up, which has a one-year lease on the space, according to the Post-Gazette.

Carol W. writes, "We ordered nearly everything, and everything was delicious. My son is kinda obsessed with the yucca. Although I loved all the meaty stew entrees (the chicken special was awesome), it is possible to order a complete vegetarian or vegan meal."

Cilantro & Ajo

Cilantro & Ajo is a Venezuelan spot that opened recently at 901 E. Carson St. in Southside Flats.

Here you can build your own arepas or choose from the house specials, sample the selection of empanadas or tackle a meaty pabellón bowl.

Also try the patacones, a flat fried plantain served with a choice of meat, coleslaw, queso fresco and ketchup. Or sample a side of fried yuca topped with cheese and served with garlic and cilantro sauce. See the full menu here.
