
Crime incidents in Dallas saw an overall decrease last week, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 528 for the week of Dec. 10, down from 733 the week before.
The overall decrease in crime incidents was led by theft and burglary. Theft fell to 65 incidents last week, from 93 the week before. Burglary went from 40 to 25.

There were 13 reported assault incidents last week. That represents a steady state from the previous week. There were also 25 shooting incidents, down from 32 the week before.

There were 365 reports of "other" crimes, a decrease of 149 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. SpotCrime data also indicates that one arrest was made last week, down from three arrests the week before.
Looking at crime patterns in different areas of the city, Northeast Dallas, Southeast Dallas and Cedar Crest had the most reported incidents last week. Northeast Dallas and Southeast Dallas were at the top of the list the previous week as well.
Crime in Southeast Dallas decreased the most. Crime reports in Southwest Dallas also fell, after increasing the week before, and incidents in Far North are down considerably as well.
Regarding day and time factors, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays saw the most crime incidents last week. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, while incidents on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays went up. Late night, after midnight and late morning continue to see the most crime incidents.
