
If you've got fitness on your mind, you're in luck: we've found the some new spots in Sacramento where you can get healthy. Here are the freshest places to check out the next time you're searching for a new gym around town.
Orangetheory
2095 Fair Oaks Blvd., Suite 110, Campus Commons

Orangetheory is a national chain for guided group fitness classes and personal training. The Arden-Arcade location at 2095 Fair Oaks Blvd. joins six others in the Sacramento area.
Orangetheory’s workout centers arounds three ideas: science, coaching, and technology. The science portion focuses on a "strategically designed" workout that requires at least 12 minutes or more in the "Orange Zone" of the ideal exercise heart rate.
Patrons' performance is tracked by the technology component: exercise equipment that monitors and delivers heart rate data and other metrics on the spot.
Members of the gym are also able to work with a personal coach to achieve weight loss goals. Orangetheory Fitness is open 7 days a week and has classes that begin as early as 5 a.m.
With a 2.5-star Yelp rating out of three reviews, the Arden-Arcade Orangetheory is still finding its way, but it's early days.
"It's a huge pain in the ass to sign up for a class," said Yelper Jamie S., who reviewed the gym on Nov. 29. "There is no option to book the free trial class, only a $28 drop-in rate (yikes!) and multiple packages that range up to $500 for a 30-day pass."

East Sac BJJ
5728A Folsom Blvd., East Sacramento

East Sac BJJ is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu spot located at 5728A Folsom Blvd. Owned by instructor Gibran Maciel, it offers instruction in the grappling martial arts style for adults and children of all experience levels. (You can check out the full schedule here.)
Classes consist of warm-ups, instruction and practice in new techniques, and "rolling," or freeform live sparring. Membership is $75 for adults and $50 for children that are six to 12 years old. The gym offers a free trial week of classes, plus a half-off discount for full-time college students.
The jiu-jitsu spot currently holds five stars out of four reviews on Yelp, indicating good reviews.
Yelper Nayjo B., who reviewed East Sac BJJ on Aug.1, wrote, "Gibran is a very detailed instructor with a passion for helping others learn and improve [toward] their goals, be it self defense or just getting in shape."
And Eder F. agreed, "It’s a great place to train! Whether you are a beginner or a well-versed grappler, Gibran has something to teach us all! ... He really takes the time to ensure everyone understands what he is teaching and why it's important.”
East Sac BJJ is open from 6 p.m.–8:00 p.m. on Tuesday-Thursday and 11 a.m.–12:30 P.M. on Saturday. (It's closed on Monday and Sunday.)
Pure Barre
1710 R St., Suite 120, Richmond Grove

The Ice Blocks location of national barre studio chain Pure Barre offers a collection of 45 to 50-minute full-body workouts seven days a week, beginning as early as 5:30 a.m.
Pure Barre focuses on low impact and isometric movements for its workouts, with the use of light equipment. Try one month of unlimited classes for $99, or choose from the various other class packages offered that can be viewed here.
With a five-star Yelp rating out of three reviews on Yelp, the barre studio has been getting positive attention.
Yelper Nicole L., who was one of the first users to visit the fitness spot on Sept. 20, wrote, “I've been taking classes at this Pure Barre location since it opened in June and absolutely love it! Each class is different so you're never doing the same workout twice!”
And Yelper Tina L. said, "It was an amazing work out! I'm obsessed and love going. I hate to even miss a day. The staff is amazing and super supportive."
