A new Laotian and Thai spot, offering tapas and more, has made its debut in the neighborhood. The new arrival to Northeast Dallas, called Khao Noodle Shop, is located at 4812 Bryan St.

Chef and owner, Donny, credits his mom, home-cooking and his travel time in Southeast Asia as the inspiration behind Khai Noodle’s menu (according to the website). Derived from the term “khao gun," which means "come together," Khao Noodle offers a a varied selection of Laotian dishes.

Experience options like the Boat Noodles with rice noodles and pork blood broth; Khao Poon with vermicelli, chicken broth and curry; and the Sakoo with tapioca, pork, peanuts and sweet radishes. It also offers vegan options on some dishes.

With a 4.5-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp so far, the fresh arrival is on its way to developing a local fan base.

Sarah T., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Dec. 2, wrote, "Every dish and every bite far exceeded our expectations. I've never had Laotian food and the flavors were wonderful. ... I had boat noodles—don't let the pork blood broth scare you off. It was delicious!”

Yelper Ross W. added, “[It is] such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. ... We had their shrimp, jerky, boat noodles and dry noodle preparation. I could [not] get over how rich and satisfying the boat noodles were. [The] shrimp were excitingly sweet and bright.”

Khao Noodle Shop is now open from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. and 5–9 p.m. on Tuesday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. and 5–10 p.m. on Friday, noon–10 p.m. on Saturday, and noon–6 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
