District 7 early childhood training at St. Mary's University

The District 7 early childhood training session will be hosted by Councilwoman Ana Sandoval at St. Mary's University this Saturday.

Guests will receive a training certificate indicating the sessions attended. Voices for Children, a nonprofit organization which aims to respond to children's health and educational needs, will maintain attendance records, according to its website. Donations to the organization will be accepted. 

Check-in will kick off at 7:30 a.m.

Child Trauma Workshop

If you're looking for ways to strengthen your relationships with foster and adopted children, check out a child trauma workshop at the Community Bible Church this Saturday. 

Robyn Gobbel, Marti Smith and Marshall Lyles will lead workshops on healing trauma, behavioral and sensory issues among children and strengthening your marriage while parenting. 

Lunch and childcare will be provided. Continuing education credits will be available. 

When: Saturday, Jan. 12, 8:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m.

Price: Free for child welfare professionals; $20 for individuals; $40 for couples

Maker Workshops

If you're looking for a fun and educational activity that will keep your child engaged, check out a Maker Workshop at the The DoSeum this Friday afternoon. 

This program is for children ages six to 11, and can accommodate up to 16 students. Maker-centered learning focuses on "making, engineering and tinkering" in K-12 education, according to Maker Ed.
