
Crime incidents in Arlington saw an overall increase last month, after a previous decline, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.
Incidents rose by 1.2 percent, from 3,449 in November to 3,489 in December.

The month-to-month increase in reports was led by theft and shooting. Theft rose from 468 reported incidents in November to 519 in December. Shooting incidents went from 10 to 21 for the month, or about a 110 percent increase.
While a somewhat smaller category, there was also a notable percentage increase last month in robbery, from 23 incidents per month to 31. Robbery reports have decreased since the same month last year.
Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last month, assault reports went from 340 to 319. Vandalism incidents fell from 95 to 80, and burglary incidents went down from 320 to 312.

Considering the concentration of crime across the city, West and East saw the largest increase from November to December.
Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays saw the most reported crimes last month. The largest increase from the previous month occurred on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, while incidents on Tuesdays, Fridays and Thursdays went down. Late afternoon, evening and early afternoon continue to see the most crime incidents on average each day.
