
Crime incidents in Arlington saw an overall increase last week, after a previous decline, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 727 for the week of January 7, up from 701 the week before.
The offenses that increased the most were theft and robbery. Theft rose to 119 incidents last week, from 115 the week before. Robbery went from five to seven.

While somewhat smaller categories, there was also a notable percentage increase in shootings, from three incidents per week to four, and in vandalism, from 21 to 22 incidents.
Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of burglary went from 59 to 55, and assault fell from 68 to 65.

There were 406 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of 18 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. SpotCrime data also indicates that 49 arrests were made last week, up from 42 arrests the week before.
Regarding when crime most often occurs, Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays produced the most reported crimes last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Tuesdays, Mondays and Sundays, while incidents on Saturdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays went down. Early afternoon, late afternoon and evening continue to see the most crime incidents.
