
Crime reports in Dallas saw an overall bump last month, after a previous decline, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.
Incidents rose by about 23 percent, from 2,000 in November to 2,471 in December.

Robbery and theft incidents increased the most from the previous month. Robbery rose from 75 reported incidents in November to 110 in December. Theft incidents went from 235 to 269 for the month, or about a 14 percent increase.
Among somewhat smaller categories, there was also a sizable percentage increase last month in burglary, from 115 incidents per month to 146, and in assault, from 41 to 50. Burglary reports have decreased since the same month last year, while assault incidents have declined.
There were 138 shooting reports last month, and 34 vandalism incidents. Shooting incidents rose from 128 offenses the previous month, while vandalism reports increased by one incidents.

Looking at crime patterns in different areas of the city, the largest increase last month occurred in Northeast Dallas, Southeast Dallas and South Dallas. North Dallas, Preston Hollow and Farmers Market District also saw considerable percentage increases in crime offenses for the month, although they continue to have lower overall crime levels.
Sundays, Saturdays and Thursdays saw the most crime incidents last month. The largest increase from the previous month occurred on Sundays, Saturdays and Thursdays, while incidents on Fridays went down. Late night, after midnight and late morning saw the most crime last month on average each day.
