Crime incidents in Dallas saw an overall decrease last week, for the third week in a row, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 425 for the week of Dec. 24, down from 522 the week before.

Theft and robbery led the decrease in crime reports. Theft fell to 35 incidents last week, from 51 the week before. Robbery went from 29 to 18. Reports of theft have continued to fall for the last three weeks.

There were 28 reported shooting incidents last week. That represents a decrease from 30 incidents the previous week. There were also five incidents of vandalism, down from 11 the week before.

Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last week, reports of burglary went from 31 to 35, and assault rose from nine to 10.

There were 293 reports of "other" crimes, a decrease of 66 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. SpotCrime data also indicates that one arrest was made last week, down from two arrests the week before.

Looking at crime patterns in different areas of the city, Northeast Dallas, Southeast Dallas, and Cedar Crest had the most reported incidents last week. Northeast Dallas and Southeast Dallas were at the top of the list the previous week as well.

Northeast Dallas saw the largest decline; incidents in the neighborhood have been falling for three weeks in a row. Crime reports in Far North also fell, after increasing the week before, and incidents in Southwest Dallas are down considerably as well.

Regarding when crime most often occurs, Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays saw the most reported crimes last week. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Mondays, Saturdays and Fridays, while incidents on Thursdays and Wednesdays went up. Late night, after midnight and late morning saw the most crime last week.
