
Crime incidents in Plano saw an overall decrease last week, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 231 for the week of January 14, down from 232 the week before.
The overall decrease in crime reports was led by theft, which fell to 99 incidents last week, from 112 the week before.

Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last week, reports of assault went from 27 to 35. Incidents of burglary rose from 27 to 35, and vandalism went up from 12 to 18.

There were 42 reports of "other" crimes, a decrease of 11 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, 23 involved arrests, such as for drug possession, down from 31 reported arrests the week before.
As far as where crime is concentrated in the city, Armstrong Park, Old Towne and Ridgewood had the most reported incidents last week. Old Towne was at the top of the list the previous week as well.
Armstrong Park experienced the highest growth in crime. Crime reports in Ridgewood also rose, after declining the week before, and incidents in Liberty Park are up considerably as well.
Regarding when crime most often occurs, Tuesdays, Mondays and Fridays witnessed the most crime incidents last week. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Wednesdays, Sundays and Saturdays, while incidents on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays went up. Late afternoon, late morning and early afternoon saw the most crime last week.
